O.K. - got this out of curiosity as I am a student of Japanese at University. 本当ですよ。 Essentially an audio phrase book that is broken up into categories to make it easy to navigate. Native Japanese speaker has done the recordings. and they are a nice and USEFUL selection. :-) Could it be improved? Well - unless you can READ kanji/kana or have a good memory you will have to get someone to listen to your iPhone when it plays the sentence or READ it (has large screen mode to do that) :-) - Perhaps should consider having the sentence displayed in romaji (roman charectors) so that you can pronounce it. At this price? - very good - definite 8/10

Great phrase list and its super to have a voice translation. It would be an exceptional app if the speech feature pronounced the words more slowly and if the English alphabet translation appeared instead of the Japanese characters. These are no help to a non-Japanese speaker!!!! Seeing the phonetic spelling and hearing the phrase would be an awesome enhancement for learning Japanese. Please, please, please add the phonetic feature. Thank you!

Fun interface and easily searchable. Delivers what was promised. However, the voices used are not clear enough and memorization is difficult without phonetic spellings in English (or whatever you choose as your native language). All the words are written in Japanese which means you cant read and repeat what you are hearing easily. This would be a perfect application, especially for the price, if the Japanese words were translated phonetically in the native language. This would require some work but without it, the app simply cant be used as a language learning tool.

Yes, this is a very good app. Simple and effective. Wish it had phonetic spelling.

Definitely worth it .. Much better and more broad than other phrase books and has some funny sayings in it

Its a great app but it crashes and wont play word the u have to redownload it again

Some insults are a little odd.. The app is pretty good and I enjoyed the update. Keep em coming;)

Lingopal is a fun way to learn a new language. It teaches you the basic things you need to hold a conversation. And for you in the social dating scene, it has a few lines you can use to make a conversation entertaining. Not for the serious students of the language. But it is for anyone looking to find a basic way to communicate
